The Little Things

This one truly hits home today. Some of you might have seen my post yesterday about Sundowners Dementia with my 16 year old pup.

I have some really great news. My hubby picked up some calming pills last night *GNC Ultra Mega Calming Formula* at Petsmart which has chamomile in it. My friend Rhonnie suggested that I immediately cut on all of the lights in the house after my evening walk with Cheesy so that he gets the idea that it’s OK and not really night time.

I also prayed really hard and I know several people were sending positive thoughts, vibes, energy and prayers our way but Cheesy slept really great last night. He not once moaned, whined, paced, etc. He did seem a bit confused a couple of times when he woke up and I took him out for his business meetings but I guess I would be too if I were 112 years old. Ha! Anyway, I was overwhelmed with all of the comments and support from all of you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Now, let’s embrace this Friday because like the quote says, it’s the little things that we need to enjoy the most.

5 Positives Of Today

My Darling Friend Jean blogged earlier today about finding 5 new positive things each day. She mentioned she’s thinking about starting a private journal for each day of these “5 Positives”. What an incredible idea don’t you think? As she mentioned, there are so many things in our lives that are positive that are not acknowledged.

I know I take for granted life’s beautiful moments and positives. I think each of us allow ourselves to get swept away in many insignificant conditions. Life is full of stress, work, problems, and irrelevant things like watching TV, shopping, napping, etc. I call that life’s fluff. That’s the filler in between the work, family, and the treasured moments.

I wanted to share my 5 for today just because…..

  1. Having lunch at a packed cafe today there was only one waitress working and probably 20 tables. She was beyond overwhelmed. Some patrons were so rude to her even though it was obvious she was doing the best she could under the circumstances. I noticed two older gents after finishing up their lunch began bussing tables to help out. As I watched the two I thought how beautiful it was that humanity still exists and there are so many kind people in this world. I handed her a substantial tip with a note complimenting the way she handled herself as we left. She gave me a hug. For that I’m thankful I was able to experience that special moment.
  2. I awoke this morning and had coffee on our deck and listened to the birds chirp and sing. It’s cloudy here and a bit cooler but the birds were out and entertaining me as the leaves whirled around with the breeze. The colors of yellow, red, brown and green were flashing brightly all around me.
  3. I heard from a very dear friend this morning and it was lovely to hear her sweet voice on the other end of the phone. We got to catch up and laugh and reminisce. I miss her so much as she lives out of state.
  4. Blessed to have all of you to read. I’ve been anticipating catching up with all of you this afternoon so let the stalking begin shortly.
  5. Finding Jean’s blog earlier today and reading about her 5 positives makes me appreciate the little things. So, thank you for sharing yours with me and all of us and coming up with this fantastic idea.

If you’re not following Jean, please check her out. I adore her posts. She’s in Ireland and has so many beautiful adventures and posts. You will be in for a great read and some outstanding photographs. https://socialbridge.wordpress.com/

Wide Open

prison

I absolutely love this quote!

I appreciate traditional, normal, and general types of characteristics. But, those characteristics of abnormal, unconventional, and rare are a magnet to my steel.

There’s something quite gripping about diversity, wouldn’t you say? I think people that are authentic and resistant are the most captivating ones.

Honestly, we’re all authentic. There’s no replica of you or me is there? We’re originals.

Sigh, resistant….unyielding…no brakes….That my loves is a beautiful thing. Keep going and keep writing and shining here. Don’t hold back on anything. The door is wide open. You’re not in prison here. Let it all out. There’s a freedom about writing your thoughts and sharing a piece of yourself. Let your authenticity flow.

Now be proud of your originality and wave it around magnificently loves.

Happy Wednesday – XOXO

Monday Intentions

Monday Eve has arrived my friends….It happened so fast didn’t it? Well, here I am preparing myself and you of course for tomorrow’s ritual.

Let’s not dread going to work tomorrow. We’re going to wake up with good intentions. Set your cruise control on happy. Can you do that? It’s not that painful to think happy thoughts is it? When you wake up in the morning and stretch and go downstairs for that cup of coffee relish in the fact that you are beginning a new day in this beautiful world.

Here’s the beauty of a Monday….you can recreate yourself, start over, see things in a whole new light. There’s a new beginning heading towards us and the opportunities are boundless. If you hit resistance from a co-worker or if something doesn’t go our way let’s remember to stay on track. Easier said than done you say? Are you a fighter? I think each of us are. The struggle is worth it to be happy. You just have to have the mindset. Mind over matter all day every day right? It’s in your head. Program your mind and control it.

Each day we should put forth the effort to better ourselves and others around us. If someone is opposing your energetic mood tomorrow try building them up. I mean don’t we all need encouragement sometimes? Do you like to be complimented? Well if you like it, don’t you think your co-worker might?

Sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn’t. I have a very dear friend that I work along side of 45 hours a week and she chooses to be miserable. I find myself constantly building her up and trying to point out the many incredible things that are going on in her life but she fights me every step of the way. At times it’s fucking exhausting. I feel like I’m concentrating on her so much that I’ve lost sight of my own happiness. I fall victim to her constant complaining and then I’m circling that damn drain with her. When this moment happens I have to take a break and escape for a minute to reboot my brain.

What do I do to make a come back? I go outside or to the bathroom and find a moment of solitude to read some of my favorite positive quotes from Pinterest on my phone. I save them like chocolate morsels. It’s my kryptonite if you will. I encourage all of you to do this. Find some incredible quotes or pictures, blogs, etc. that move you and put a smile on your face and go to those at any given moment to remind you that you’re in control of your thoughts and mood.

Don’t let someone else destroy your inner happiness. You don’t have to be a follower. You can lead.

I leave you with this…..

Happiness is an inside job. You’re the boss. Now go out and be a bad ass encouraging mother fucker tomorrow!

Beauty In Every Face

image

Morning Everyone,

Yesterday as I was out & about I enjoyed the simplest little pleasure of people watching.

The function I was at had more than 40,000 people attending.

As I watched and relished in my favorite thing to do I couldn’t help but think to myself….Why don’t we choose to see the beauty in everyone?

I would pick out a person and mentally think of something unique or dazzling about them. I didn’t just do this with women but men too.

A photographer with the largest lens I’d ever seen on her Canon. She had weathered skin with a few lines. It looked like she hadn’t combed her hair in days but I couldn’t help but see the exquisiteness of her face. The stories she must have with each line. The beauty in her gleaming green eyes.

The charming older gent with his WWII Veteran Cap on. As he walked with his cane and the tenderness in his smile looking down at his granddaughter with her fairy costume on. As she jumped into a mud puddle in shear delight, he chuckled. He highfived her as she looked up at him with her wide eyes. He was beautiful to me for the way he looked at her.

We should never see ugly on anyone’s face. Of course there are many ugly things that people do or say. But, a face, a face is not ugly at all to me.

Judging a face before knowing someone’s character, personalities, their story is cruel. Because in a sense that makes you ugly….just sayin’

The stories are the mystery behind the eyes. When you look at someone, embrace what they might have to tell.
